9. I think the perfect person for me would be someone I’m completely comfortable around, and don’t have to worry about being myself at all. Maybe someone who likes doing small considerate things for me the way I enjoy doing things for them. And we’d have to have a similar sense of humor.
43. My longest relationship was about 3 years. It was also my first relationship. And every relationship since then has gotten progressively shorter. Go figure.
55. For the 4th of july weekend a couple years ago, a girl I was getting really close with spent a couple days down here with me in RI. We had a blast at my family’s 4th of july party, and then she fell asleep on my stomach. We actually stayed that way all night, which ruled. Then the next day I took her to my favorite spot in Newport, and we sat on the rocks by the water and had our first kiss. Then when I was bringing her home because I had to get back for band practice, I got a call saying practice was cancelled. So we took a little detour and went to Ikea instead. We talked in English accents the entire time, and came up with a story if anyone asked us where we were from. I think the story was that we were from a small suburb of London, but we had to relocate to Newport for my job and were just picking out furniture for our house on the water. Anyway, it was one of the best weekends of my life. We weren’t technically dating then, but it just stands out to me. I miss that weekend more than anything.
76. I was big on surprising girlfriends with flowers once upon a time. I mean it’s not that I wouldn’t do it now, I just haven’t had anyone to do it for in longer than I’d care to admit. But I remember one valentine’s day I told my girlfriend that I had to stay late at school and that we probably wouldn’t be able to hang out. She was super bummed. But what she didn’t know was I was actually getting out of school early so I could go get flowers and surprise her at her school. So I waited in front of her bus for about a half hour until she finally came out, and she just lit up. It was the best. Then she came back with us and we spent the night together. I’m good at planning that sappy romantic stuff. I just don’t get to do it often. I actually did more or less the same thing for the same girlfriend two years later, but surprised her at work instead. But I think she dumped like a week later. Oh well.
